Which browsers does GBooks Air support?

Supported browsers

GBooks Air is built for modern, up-to-date versions of the major browsers: Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and Safari. It leans on modern browser storage (IndexedDB) and encryption APIs, so keeping your browser reasonably current, which most people are automatically, is really the only requirement.

Why your data doesn't follow you between browsers

This is the direct consequence of building the app local-first. Your books are stored in that specific browser's local database, not on a server tied to a login somewhere. Open the app in a different browser, or a different device, and you'll find an empty company file. Nothing was lost; it's just looking at different local storage. Your original data is still exactly where you left it.

Switching browsers or devices on purpose

Fully supported, and it's really just a backup and restore, not any kind of migration process:

1. In your current browser, create a fresh encrypted backup.
2. Move the backup file to the new browser or device, cloud storage, a USB drive, or emailing it to yourself all work.
3. Open GBooks Air in the new browser and choose Restore from backup.

Private and incognito windows

Never do your bookkeeping in a private or incognito window. Browsers discard all local storage from these windows the moment they're closed, by design, which means anything entered there disappears the instant you close the tab, with no error and no warning of any kind.

Mobile browsers

GBooks Air works in mobile browsers for on-the-go tasks like snapping a receipt, though the fuller reporting and invoicing workflows feel more comfortable on a bigger screen. The same per-browser storage rule applies on mobile too.
