Quick fixes worth trying first

  • Close other tabs, especially other heavy web apps. Since GBooks Air runs entirely in your browser, it's sharing your device's memory with everything else you have open.
  • Refresh the page. A simple reload clears out any accumulated in-memory state and fixes a surprising amount of sluggishness on its own.
  • Update your browser. Performance and IndexedDB improvements ship regularly in browser updates, and an old browser version is a common, quiet cause of slowdowns.

If it's specifically slow on large reports or big imports

That scales with your transaction count and your device's performance rather than being a fixed cost, so it's fairly normal for very large ledgers on older hardware. If you're getting close to the 20,000-transaction capacity, archiving completed fiscal years shrinks the active working set and usually restores things to snappy.

If it's slow specifically during receipt OCR

OCR is genuinely real computational work happening on your device, not on a server, so processing time scales with how fast your device is. A few seconds per receipt is expected, and longer on older or lower-powered hardware. Processing one receipt at a time rather than a big batch keeps things feeling responsive.

If a specific action seems frozen

Give it a few extra seconds before assuming it's actually stuck. Some operations, large imports, big PDF reports, genuinely take longer than a typical click-and-respond interaction. If it truly doesn't recover, refresh the page. Your data saves as you go, so a refresh usually doesn't cost you recent work, though a recent backup is always worth having as routine insurance regardless.

Persistent slowness that none of this fixes is worth reporting to support@gshfinancial.com with your browser and device type.
