Reports & dashboards
Reports are the whole reason to do bookkeeping in the first place. Everything in GBooks Air gets generated live from your ledger, nothing is precomputed or stale, and each report is really answering a different question.
Profit & Loss — "am I actually making money?"
Revenue, expenses by category, and the net result for any date range, with a donut chart showing where the money's actually going. A few ways to read it:
- Monthly — the regular health check. Compare against last month, and once you've got the history, the same month last year.
- Year-to-date — the bigger trajectory, and the base you'd use to estimate your tax set-aside.
- Category share — if one slice of the donut keeps growing quarter over quarter, that's worth a question before it turns into a problem.
Since the default categories mirror the T2125, your year-end P&L is effectively a first draft of your tax return already.
A/R aging — "who owes me, and for how long?"
Outstanding invoices bucketed by age: current, 1-30, 31-60, 61-90, 90+ days. The uncomfortable truth about receivables is that collectability decays with age, so the 90+ column deserves an actual phone call, not another emailed PDF. Pair it with customer statements for the document that does the following up.
Cash runway — "how long can I keep going?"
The runway gauge looks at your cash position against your recent average burn and estimates how many months you could operate if revenue paused entirely. It's a planning tool, not a prophecy, but watching it trend down for three months running is exactly the kind of early warning that lets you act while your options are still cheap.
Sales tax report — "what do I owe the CRA?"
Tax collected, ITCs claimable, and net owing for any period, laid out to match the GST/HST return. Covered in more depth in the filing tutorial.
Audit flags — "what would a reviewer actually question?"
The tax-ready audit flags scan your books for the things that draw attention: uncategorized transactions, expenses with no receipt attached, unusually large or suspiciously round entries, meals that weren't separated out for the 50% rule. Clearing the flag list before year-end is the cheapest audit insurance you're going to find.
The incorporation estimator
Wondering if it's time to incorporate? The estimator takes your actual profit and sketches the tax difference between sole-proprietor and small-business-corporation treatment. It's a genuinely useful conversation-starter with real numbers behind it, best brought to your accountant rather than treated as the final word.
Exporting
Every report generates a PDF right on your device, ready to send to your accountant, your bank, or just your own files. Nothing routes through a server along the way.
